You're trusting us with real things — your client info, your job details, and how your customers pay you. Here's the plain-language version of what protects all of it. No jargon, no fine print maze.
Who actually holds the money?
Stripe does — not us.
When your customer pays an invoice, they're taken to a secure Stripe checkout page — the same payment processor used by businesses of every size to get paid online. We never see or store their card number; it goes straight to Stripe, and Stripe moves the money to your bank account. Our job is to hand off the invoice total and get out of the way.
What happens to your client list and job data?
It's stored securely, and it's yours alone.
Every client, job, and invoice you add is locked to your account — no other Featherwork customer can see it, and we don't sell or share it with anyone. Everything between your browser and our servers travels encrypted, the same padlock-in-the-address-bar protection your bank's website uses.
Can someone get into my account?
We make it hard to guess your way in.
Your password is never stored as plain text — it's scrambled with a unique random ingredient for every single account, so even we can't read it back. Login and signup attempts are rate-limited to block automated password-guessing, and your session is locked down with the same cookie protections used to prevent common browser-based attacks. Nothing exotic — just the basics, done properly.
What if Featherwork goes away?
Fair question — we're small, and we know it.
We're two founders building this in the open, not a faceless offshore operation. Curious who's actually behind it? Read more about our studio. And because Stripe — not us — is the one actually holding and moving your customers' money, that part doesn't depend on Featherwork's size or age.

Do you sell my data?
No. We don't sell your data or your customers' data to anyone, period.
Do you see my customers' payment info?
No. Card numbers go straight to Stripe's secure checkout — we only ever see the invoice total and whether it's been paid.
Do I have to use online payment?
No. Every invoice can offer online payment through Stripe, but how your customer actually pays you is between the two of you.
What about chargebacks?
Chargebacks and disputes are handled through Stripe, the same as for any business that takes card payments — Stripe will notify you and walk you through responding.
Do I need to do anything for compliance?
No — there's nothing to configure or sign on your end. Keeping the underlying systems secure is on us, not something we hand off to you.
